On October 29, 2007, Premera announced their participation in a HCFO-sponsored study conducted by Douglas Conrad, Ph.D., professor at the University of Washington , in the press release, "Premera Quality Program is One of Two in U.S. Selected to Study Impact of Health Insurer Programs on Patient Health and Cost." In this study, Conrad will examine the effects of quality scorecards and financial incentives, developed by Premera, on physicians' clinical quality, patient satisfaction, and efficiency. Conrad notes,"This study has the potential for significant impact on how we approach delivery of health care."
On October 29, 2007 the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University introduced a new blog titled, "Code Red," that was created by HCFO grantee, David Dranove, Ph.D. In this blog, Dranove and other economists discuss the state of U.S. health care.
Ted von Glahn was quoted in the October 18, 2007 Bakersfield Californian article "Report Scores Doctors' Groups." Von Glahn completed HCFO-sponsored research examining the impact of patient-reported physician performance information on patient selection of physicians.
