grantee spotlight

After decades of inadequate funding, there is broad consensus that the public health system is not equipped to meet modern day challenges including bioterrorism, chronic disease, and infectious disease outbreaks.

We need research that examines the functions and structure of public health agencies, the inputs to the public health system, the delivery of public health services, and the impact of these activities on population health to keep us safe.

HCFO's rigorous review process and history of extraordinary investigator initiated research make it the natural home for The Robert Wood Johnson Foundation's special topic solicitations for Public Health Systems Research. These solicitations were released in 2005 and 2006. Proposals submitted under the 2007 solicitation are currently being reviewed. Announcement are expected by the end of the year. Another solicitation is expected to be released in spring of 2008. Please click below to view the specific solicitations by year.
